Streamside Landowners Workshop 1

October 5, 2013 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Living on a stream, river, or wetland is both rewarding and challenging. Snohomish Conservation District and Snohomish County Surface Water Management will host two workshops for streamside landowners in the Stanwood and Arlington areas. (The workshop content is the same for both classes).

One half of the workshop will provide an introduction to stream ecology – wildlife and insects, water quality, how streams change, and what you can do to be a good steward of the stream. During the other half of the workshop, we will focus on common streamside problems and options for dealing with those issues – beaver and other wildlife issues, erosion, and permits and regulations. We will also provide information on the resources available to streamside landowners to help them manage their property (including grant assistance and other programs).

Address, directions, and additional information will be sent to participants after registering. Light refreshments will be provided. Workshop participants will briefly visit a stream during the workshop; a 5 minute walk to the stream will be required and we will spend about 30 minutes outside.
